The Australian Theatre Festival 2020 New Play Award recognizes a new play with a distinctly Australian voice that is big on ideas and bold in its ambitions.

The award offers a prize of $5,000* for an unproduced, full-length play written by an Australian playwright, over the age of 18. The winning play will be developed with ATF co-artistic director Mark Barford and presented at a staged reading in New York City as part of The Australian Theatre Festival in NYC, May 2020. The ATF 2020 New Play Award is sponsored by Andrew J. Martin-Weber.

The New Play Award Winner & Runner-Up were unanimously selected by a panel of industry experts, including Chief Judges, Co-Artistic Directors Mark Barford, Connor Delves and Jillian Geurts.
